Can I replace existing text or recognize a scanned page?
No. You can add new text and annotations, but PDFSpruce does not rewrite existing paragraphs or provide optical character recognition (OCR). Added text uses the editor’s supported Latin character set.
Does PDFSpruce securely redact text?
No. Drawing over content and clearing metadata are not secure redaction. Text and other identifying content can remain in the exported file.
Can I digitally sign or unlock a PDF?
PDFSpruce adds visual signatures only. It does not provide certificate-backed digital signatures, password bypass or identity verification. Signed, encrypted and XFA PDFs are not supported.
What can change during export?
Standard form fields are flattened. Bookmarks, attachments, links and accessibility structure may change during assembly. Keep your original files and review the exported copy.
Does it work offline?
Processing runs locally, but the website loads application code, PDF libraries, fonts and other assets over the network. Offline installation and operation are not guaranteed.
