How to edit a PDF online for free
To add text to a PDF for free, open it in PDFSpruce, choose Edit PDF, and use the text tool. Return to Organize pages and export a new copy. Processing runs in your browser; this adds text over the page rather than rewriting existing paragraphs.

- Open the editor and choose a PDF, or try the built-in sample. The workspace supports up to 50 MB total and 150 source pages.
- Choose Edit PDF, then select the page you want to change. Use the text, highlight, shape or image tools to add your changes. Undo lets you correct mistakes.
- Choose Organize pages to return to the workspace, then Export PDF. Download and open the result to check the placement of your edits.
Before you export
This editor adds text and annotations. It does not rewrite existing paragraphs, match their fonts automatically or OCR scanned pages. Drawing a white rectangle over text is not secure redaction: underlying information can remain in the file.
A useful tip
For a short correction, add a clearly labeled note beside the original text. For a rewrite of several paragraphs, edit the source document and export a fresh PDF instead.
Where are my files processed?
Your documents stay in your browser’s memory. PDFSpruce does not upload your PDFs, filenames, previews or document text. Download your finished work before closing or refreshing the editor. See our privacy information for details about website requests.
